Mixed Chicks was the brain child of Wendi Levy and Kim Etheredge. The two were frustrated and uninspired by what they saw around them. The offerings for women who were multi-racial were non-existent, and products made for Caucasians or African Americans weren’t the right blend for mixed chicks. Products for African Americans were too heavy and oily, and products for Caucasians were too drying. The two teamed together and started formulating their product line from their garages by mixing what they loved about products for African American hair with the components of Caucasian hair care that worked for them. With just 6 awe-inspiring products, these two mixed chicks, have changed the face of biracial hair care, and given an overwhelmingly underrepresented group of people a product line they can use and love.
The Mixed Chicks creators strive to provide products that garner results for people whom they describe as having “combination” hair; hair which is course but often fine, curly but not kinky, or straight with a distinct texture and porosity. The Mixed Chicks line has expanded to include products for men and children. Wildly popular in the U.S.A the brand’s deep conditioner is sold in Canada and Australia as well.
